Analysis: Silent Spring

In Rachel Carson's essay Silent Spring, she utilizes many evidences and statistics to tell the public and government that the DDT has too much harmless for the environment. For example, in the article, she write "In 1947 the production of young birds began to decline. Some nests contained no eggs; others contained eggs that failed to hatch. Between 1952 and 1957, about 80 percent of the nests failed to produce young". In addition, she also expresses logos in her article. Like in page 370, she uses some quotes from Dr. James DeWitt of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Besides the logos, she uses pathos in the essay. In the beginning of the article, she writes one place that has comfortable environment and attractive wild animals to express her good hopes and wishes.
